The Multimedia Lab

The multimedia lab was established in 2007/2008 in the Faculty of Applied Languages. It was designed to cater for the Faculty’s advanced educational needs. It is located in the second floor at the university and includes 28 units.

The lab is educationally distinguished as it is equipped with the following :
- Two computers to provide the students with a variety of audio-visual documents.
- An individual unit equipped with headphones for each student.
- The main lab unit through which audio content is sent to each student individually or a conversation is held with one student only with the possibility of inviting other students by pressing on their seat number buttons.If the student does not understand a certain part of the lesson, he/she could call the instructor by pressing on a call-on button from his counter, so that the instructor can respond and orient him/her.
- Data show to present visual documents.
- A big screen to clearly present images.
- DVD player used by the instructor to present visual documents.
- VCR to present various visual documents.
- Internet connection to present audio and visual educational documents.
- TV linked to a satellite receiver to listen to live audio and visual documents.
- Video conference system to communicate with professors at the partner university (Paris 3 — Sorbonne Nouvelle).

The lab can also be used as an advanced tool for simultaneous interpretation through which the translated document as well as the translator’s voice could be recorded and saved on a CD or on any other advanced device.
