"It has contributed its experience to providing training to engineering students from various Egyptian universities and educational institutions, including Cairo University, the French University in Egypt and Future Generation Foundation."
Alcatel-Lucent has supported the project of the French University in Egypt since its inauguration back in 2002. It offers a number of summer training courses in addition to establishing a specialized communications lab within the university. An up-to-the-minute communications lab equipped with the latest communication labs technologies has been already established providing students specialized communications training. Nesci assured that the curricula are designed according to the highest educational standards and to the requirements of communications companies. The process has been supervised by experts from international communications companies as well as Alcatel-Lucent’s experts in order to ensure graduates meet the requirements of such companies thus enhancing their job opportunities. He added that Alcatel-Lucent and the French University in Egypt are celebrating the graduation of the first class of engineering students this year; a number of whom is in France right now finalizing their master’s degrees, including students sponsored by Alcatel-Lucent over the past few years.
The French University in Egypt was inaugurated in 2002. Back then, it included only two faculties: Faculty of Management and Information Systems and Faculty of Applied Languages. Later in 2003 the Faculty of Engineering was established. It consisted of two departments: Department of Production, Energy and Automatic Control and Department of Communications and Information Technology; the latter of which is sponsored by Alcatel-Lucent. Students of the French University in Egypt study in three languages, namely Arabic, French and English. They obtain a double degree: a bachelor’s degree from the French University on Egypt accredited by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and an MA from French Partner universities. "Alcatel-Lucent’s businesses in Africa and the Middle East are now undertaken by a large number of Egyptian engineers and technicians," said Nesci. "They put their shoulders to the wheel and execute all the company’s operations within the region, which has been previously undertaken entirely by European engineers and technicians. Egyptian calibers are currently highly qualified and reliable." Alcatel-Lucent has contributed by multi-millions to improve education in Egypt in addition to the training courses offered at the company’s headquarters. Besides, it offers students the chance to join Alcatel-Lucent’s team according to their specialties as well as providing suitable job opportunities in other communications companies.
